İlknur Yılmaz (IY) graduated in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Faculty of Sciences and Art at the University of Istanbul in 2015. She has worked at Cerrahpasa Medicine University, Biruni University, and Bezmialem Vakıf University as a molecular biologist. Two years later she obtained a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the Institute of Health Sciences at the University of Bezmialem Vakif. In her master's degree, she performed the functional characterization of the Photolyase gene in the malaria parasite by deletion from the genome and insertion with tagging into the genome of the parasite. In 2021, she started her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Faculty of Sciences and Art at the University of Yıldız Technical. During this time, she worked for TÜBİTAK 1001 Projects and she got a scholarship from Bideb2211A. Currently, her domains of specialization are Microbial Genetics, Biotechnology, and Molecular Biology, namely genomic engineering in different pathogenic microorganisms.
